MATTA DEMANDS THE SUN APOLOGISE FOR PUBLISHING ALLEGED FALSE STATEMENTS

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) has demanded that The Sun newspaper apologise for publishing alleged false statements about the association in its article dated Dec 13.

Matta Honorary Secretary-General Joseph Francis Xavier said on Thursday the article headlined “Matta under scrutiny” had tarnished the reputation of the tourism association.

It is with astonishment that MATTA was made aware of the news article that appeared in the Sun dated Monday, December 13, 2010 under the heading “ MATTA under scrutiny”

-Association may be deregistered following power struggle and anomalies.

This news article not only had the wrong facts but also made wrongful use of the names of some of the office bearers, both past and present to imply that things were not done according to the constitution of MATTA and therefore the association may be deregistered.
